Oro Gin (70cl, 43%)

This month’s featured gin is multi award winning Oro Gin, from father and son team Raymond and Ray Clynick. The Oro Gin team have gone back to the dawn of distilling to create their unique spirits – when distilling was a science rather than a craft.

Oro Gin History

After months of theoretical recipe development, study of botanical science and much discussion with “the palate”, the principal botanicals were selected for Oro Gin.

Inspiration

At the Dalton distillery, Oro Gin is made in the time honoured way – by redistilling a selection of botanicals with high quality neutral grain spirit. The mixture is left to macerate for 24 hours and distilled using the ‘one shot’ method – the stills are charged with spirit, botanicals, and water to the exact proportions of the recipe. Once distilled, only pure water is added to achieve a strength of 43% ABV.

Result & Perfect Serve

A combination of classic gin botanicals such as juniper, coriander, orris root, lemon and orange peels, and the more unusual cassia bark, Malabar cardamom, pink peppercorns, and lemongrass. There’s also one signature botanical that remains a company secret.
