Blowing Stone Gin (70cl, 42%)
This month’s featured gin Blowing Stone London Dry Gin! Its delicate and distinctive flavour comes from a blend of meadowsweet, elderflower and hand-picked wild gorse from the North Wessex Downs. In the 9th Century honey was a delicacy and as they are also beekeepers, they add a dash of their home-made local honey to help smooth the flavour and provide the sumptuous mouthfeel of this gin.
Blowing Stone Gin History
The Blowing Stone gins have been lovingly crafted using carefully selected botanicals. Following extensive research of the period, Blowing Stone have selected fruits, herbs and some more unusual ingredients which would have been growing wild or readily available at the time of King Alfred the Great’s reign.
Inspiration
Awarded ‘Best English London Dry Gin 2021’ at the World Gin Awards, ‘The Blowing Stone’ London Dry Gin is the first in the Ashdown Series and is a tribute to Alfred’s first victory over the Danish Vikings. Batch-distilled using a three-part process, Blowing Stone use a blend of beautifully balanced botanicals which could be found locally during the middle ages.
Result & Perfect Serve
Blowing Stone Gin is a truly remarkable spirit. To capture and balance its flavours, a three-part process is used, combining traditional batch pot distillation methods of steeping and infusion with the careful blending of a fragrant botanical tea. Serve to taste!
