Inverclyde Gin History
This month’s featured gin is Inverclyde Gin, developed and produced by the team at The Start-Up Drinks Lab in Port Glasgow. The new craft drink’s motto is ‘for locals, by locals’ and the team pride themselves on having employed seven local men on the production line to bottle the tantalising tipple.
Inverclyde Gin is the only spirit bottled in Inverclyde and the hero spirit of this Glasgow Region. This fabulous gin is bottled, labelled and sold at their lab in Port Glasgow by a small team of colleagues who live locally. Each bottle features the signatures of the team and is personalised to highlight the individual in the team who worked on it, reflecting the local roots involved in producing each bottle of Inverclyde Gin.
Inspiration
This delightful coastal gin was created as a tribute to Inverclyde, commitment to the locals and to showcase the area’s rich nautical history. As the Spirit of Inverclyde, Inverclyde Gin represents everything the locals know and love about their local region. The coastal botanicals including sea buckthorn and sapphire reflect the essence of the sea and marine environment Inverclyde is famous for, while hints of orange give our gin a fresh citrus twist.
Result & Perfect Serve
For the perfect serve, over ice with tonic and an orange wedge. It’s a classic serve for a reason, and will bring out the citrus notes of the gin.

Orange Martini
Using the classic Martini with a sweet orange twist. Whilst some people argue an orange martini is best with vodka, gin introduces botanical flavours and creates a beautifully complex citrus cocktail.
Ingredients
50ml of Inverclyde Gin
15ml of dry vermouth
15ml of triple sec
1 dash orange bitters
Method
Stir together ingredients in an iced glass.
Recommended Garnish
Float an orange twist on top.
