Bombay Sapphire Gin Distillery
According to figures from HM Revenue & Customs, there were 361 gin distilleries reported in the UK. With so many distilleries, it means there are a lot of different tours for you to embark on so you can try some of the best artisan craft gin.
One of the best tours around is the Bombay Sapphire Gin Distillery in Whitchurch, Hampshire. This gin is created at Laverstoke Mill, situated on the River Test. As well as being a lovely place to walk around, you can enjoy the large variety of experiences offered at the distillery. Whether it’s cocktail making, an ultimate experience, cocktail supper club pairing, or viewing the heritage or horticulture of the distillery, you’re spoilt for choice.
The Gin Spa
What better way to spend a nice relaxing weekend, with gin and a spa! The first-ever gin spa, located in Glasgow, combines the spa’s detailed knowledge of botanical ingredients with superb experiences and spa treatments. If you love gin, loved the Mini Cooper scenes in the Italian Job and want to explore the best gin bars and distillery, then the Classic Mini Cooper Gin Bar Experience is for you. This tour for three people sees you stop off at a minimum of three of the best gin bars in London, as well as a distillery (or 5 if you want to explore even more). You’ll zip around London in a classic Mini Cooper, with the driver acting as your highly trained, local guide, showing you London’s hidden gems.
With so many gin bars to choose from in central London, this tour will take you to the very best ones. One of the gin bars even has more than 500 gins and 30 tonics, giving you more than 14,000 possible G&T combinations.
The Gin Lovers Retreat
If you’re looking for an experience that gets you out of the house, then this is the one for you. The Gin Lovers Retreat from Wild Thyme Spirits sees you take in the beautify of Colonsay, discovering the island, beaches, scenery and wildlife. With a collection of more than 200 gins to try over the weekend, you can try something new, enjoy an old flame or maybe find a new one.
Included within this retreat for 4 people are breakfast and a buffet/picnic lunch on Saturday & Sunday, dinner on Friday & Saturday, early evening supper on Sunday, a gin cocktail pre-dinner on Friday and a 5-gin tasting on Saturday.
The Ginstitute
After starting its life as London’s smallest museum, The Ginstitute is based at London’s The Distillery, home to Portobello Road Gin. The experience will see you explore the gin’s colourful and checkered past, from its creation by the Dutch, its journey across the sea with William of Orange, to Hogarth and his gin lane, finishing with the golden era of gin.
Once you learn the history, you’ll be led by your ginstructor through the blending rooms, smelling your way through a range of pure botanical distillates, choosing your favourites to create your own bespoke blend of gin. You’ll enjoy several gin cocktails during the session, before leaving with your own personal blend of gin and a bottle of Portobello Road Gin.
